Laura Roberts joined the TV5 news team as a reporter in March 2011. She comes to WABI after working as a part-time assignment editor at New England Cable News. Laura completed internships at NECN in Newton, MA and WTNH in New Haven, CT. She graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College in December 2010 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While at Emerson, she was News Director and an executive producer for WEBN, an on-campus television news station. Her live election special for the November 2010 elections won the 2010 Regional Associated Press Award for Best Election Coverage. While working as a reporter for WEBN, she covered events such as President Obama campaigning for Governor Deval Patrick and the 2010 United States Olympic Team Media Summit in Chicago. Laura was President of Emerson's chapter of the Radio and Television Digital News Association. She also worked as an anchor, producer and reporter for Emerson's award winning radio station, WERS FM. Laura is a member of Zeta Phi Eta, National Professional Fraternity for the Communication Arts and Sciences. When she's not working, Laura enjoys singing, live music, literature, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Originally from Prospect, Connecticut, Laura is very excited to be reporting in New England where she has lived all of her life.
